Gunnison Stream Restoration – Moncrief

WHERE
Gunnison, Colorado
PLACE
Lower Gunnison River on Moncrief Ranch.

A large section of the river required restoration to function as a fishery and reduce bank erosion. The objective was to revert the channel back to a more efficient flow system. There were several large gravel bars that deposited in deep holes damaging the fish habitat and a lot of stream bank destruction. The bank was stabilized with jetties and other flow control structures. These river restoration practices created more trout habitat, protected the bank, and stabilized the stream bed.
